Details: A landslide occurred on Wednesday in the Bulambuli area, approximately 300 km east of Uganda's capital, Kampala.
According to the Red Cross, at least 40 households were completely buried by the landslide.
The Prime Minister reported that 15 people have died, but there may be many more bodies trapped underground.
The landslide destroyed all bridges in the area, and the roads were flooded, making rescue operations difficult.
The police reported that 113 people are considered missing, and impassable roads hinder evacuation and rescue efforts.
Uganda has been experiencing heavy rains since October, which have caused flooding and landslides, with the Nile River overflowing and inundating the main highway connecting Kampala to the northwest of the country.
