Details: It has been reported that the Finnish company Insta is unveiling a new drone at the SecD Day event, which begins on Wednesday, January 29, in Helsinki.

The Steel Eagle ER drone, designed for extended range, is currently in serial production, with only test versions having flown so far.

"If it only operates in Finland, it’s hard to understand what the device should be like. There is a war in Ukraine, and that is why the product was developed with frontline conditions in mind," shared Tuure Lehtoranta, the director of sales and marketing for Insta's defense business.

It is noted that the drone is equipped with a propeller developed by a Ukrainian partner, a radio signal system for control, and a relaying capability, meaning it can transmit data, along with goggles for the pilot.

The goggles feature a "first-person" mode, allowing the user to observe the surroundings from the drone's perspective.

In Finland, a charge has been developed that contains explosives and fires steel and tungsten bullets.

Tungsten is a hard metal that was previously used to manufacture, for example, filaments for incandescent lamps. It has the highest melting and boiling points among chemical elements. This material is now one of the raw materials for the defense industry.

According to Yle, the bullets are capable of penetrating the roof of a standard or lightly armored vehicle from several dozen meters in altitude.

Furthermore, the drone's charge is primarily intended for the destruction of infantry. If soldiers were positioned in an area the size of a football field, three drones with such charges would be sufficient to kill or injure them. The new device has a wide operational range and is resistant to obstacles.
