Details: Shmyhal and Plenković met on Wednesday, January 29. On that day, they discussed ways to expedite peace and hold Russia accountable.
"During our meeting, Mr. Plenković announced the preparation of a new package of military-technical assistance, which is set to be approved tomorrow (Friday, January 30. – Ed.)," the Ukrainian Prime Minister reported.
Shmyhal mentioned that they also agreed to explore the possibility of establishing a joint Ukrainian-Croatian working group to monitor the unlawful activities of the Russian "shadow fleet."
"We will work towards ensuring that Russia pays for its aggression. Croatia is already supporting the operation of the International Register of Damages and our efforts to ensure that all frozen Russian assets are fully confiscated and directed towards bolstering our resilience, defense capabilities, and recovery," the head of the Ukrainian government summarized.
What preceded:
- In December, pro-Russian Croatian President Zoran Milanović promised not to allow the deployment of Croatian troops to Ukraine while he is in office.
- And in the fall, Milanović refused to agree to the country's military participation in NATO's initiative to support Ukraine, NSATU, as it "could potentially harm national interests."
