At least 17 people have died in a stampede during a religious festival in India.

During religious rituals at the Maha Kumbh Mela festival in India, a stampede occurred, resulting in the deaths of at least 17 people, with many pilgrims sustaining injuries.

Details: The government hospital confirmed the death of 17 pilgrims and injuries to several dozen individuals.

The publication notes that a doctor who reported this works in Prayagraj, where more than 30 injured were taken, 5 of whom are in serious condition.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi acknowledged the loss of life during the festival and described the incident as "extremely tragic."
