In Odesa, police uncovered pensioners selling fake seafarer certificates to draft evaders.

In the Odessa region, law enforcement officials have disrupted a channel for smuggling conscripted men abroad using fake sailor documents. Two women, aged 62 and 65, are suspected of organizing this illegal scheme.

Quote: "Police officers found that the women were creating fake certificates of professional training and seaman's licenses for men subject to mobilization in exchange for money, allowing them to board maritime vessels. This enabled clients to leave the country under the guise of crew members."

Details: Law enforcement documented the "employment" of one of the conscripted Ukrainians as a sailor on a cargo ship that operated between EU countries. The women valued their services at over $6,000.

Authorities conducted a series of searches at the residences and locations of the suspects. They seized over $180,000 in cash, mobile phones, documents, vehicles, and other items of interest to the investigation.

Based on the evidence collected, two suspects, aged 62 and 65, have been charged, facing up to nine years in prison along with asset confiscation.
