Quote: "The main targets of the enemy were the bases of local police units, military enlistment offices, and prosecutor's offices. As the investigation revealed, the agents had the right to choose their first 'target' for detonation. However, thanks to the proactive measures taken by the Security Service of Ukraine, the terrorist attacks were successfully prevented."
Details: According to law enforcement, Russian special services recruited a 27-year-old drug addict and his girlfriend, who were seeking "easy" money through Telegram channels.
The Security Service of Ukraine reports that the couple, under the direction of the Russian FSB, settled in a hostel near Kyiv and began preparing an improvised explosive device. To do this, they purchased chemical components for synthesizing explosives, as well as metal bolts and aluminum shavings. The perpetrators planned to hide the explosives in a fire extinguisher.
Next, the couple was supposed to receive geolocation coordinates from their Russian handlers for carrying out the attack. The primary targets for this were police stations, military enlistment offices, and prosecutor's offices in the Kyiv region.
The Security Service of Ukraine apprehended the criminals while they were manufacturing explosive components. They were charged with preparing a terrorist act and illegal manufacturing of explosives. They face up to 12 years in prison.
