Details: In a conversation with journalists before departing for Florida, Trump stated that he is seeking peace in the war between Russia and Ukraine.
"I want immediate peace. President Putin will want to conclude it, and he wants to conclude it – he wants to put an end to this. You saw what I saw today: this (Zelensky) is a man who wants to force us to sign and continue fighting. We will not do that," Trump declared.
He also mentioned that the Ukrainian president "went too far" in the Oval Office.
"We are seeking peace. We are not looking for someone who is going to sign an agreement with a strong state and then not make peace because they feel confident," Trump said.
He added that "we are not going to continue fighting, we are going to end the war or let them go and see what happens; let them fight it out themselves."
Trump reiterated several times the phrase he had said earlier during his spat with Zelensky, that the Ukrainian president "has no cards in hand."
Dispute in the Oval Office prompted words of support for Zelensky from key European allies, particularly France and Germany.
Ukraine received support from European leaders as well as EU leaders.
The Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban, became almost the only leader among EU states who openly supported Trump after his dispute with Zelensky.
