"I said we need to save TikTok because we're talking about a huge - who in this audience uses TikTok? Many? Yes, it’s very popular. And, honestly, we have no choice, we have to save it."

What preceded this: The day before, the TikTok social network stopped working in the United States less than two hours before the ban was set to take effect.

Trump promised that after his inauguration on January 20, he would delay the ban on the Chinese platform TikTok and advocated for the United States to acquire 50% ownership of the company.

Reminder:

U.S. President Joe Biden decided not to ban the TikTok social network, leaving the resolution of this issue to his successor, Donald Trump.

TikTok will spend $50,000 on a celebration party for Donald Trump's inauguration to honor influencers who helped spread his campaign message, according to the event's organizer.

Chinese officials are considering a scenario where Elon Musk might acquire TikTok's American operations if the company fails to avoid the controversial ban on the app.

In the U.S., the possibility of banning TikTok was discussed if its parent company ByteDance did not sell the platform. Meanwhile, Americans, fearing a ban, are actively switching to another Chinese app - RedNote.

On Friday, January 17, the Supreme Court ruled that the ban on TikTok could take effect this weekend, rejecting an appeal from the owners of the popular app who claimed the ban violated the First Amendment of the Constitution.
