Source: statement from the Director General of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi
Direct quote from Grossi: "For the second time in less than two weeks, the Khmelnytsky, Rivne, and South Ukraine Nuclear Power Plants have reduced their power levels as a precautionary measure during the ongoing large-scale military actions in the country."
Details: It is noted that power levels have been decreased at nine reactors operating at these plants.
Additionally, one reactor at the Rivne Nuclear Power Plant has been disconnected from the grid.
The nuclear plants continued to receive electricity from external sources, despite the Khmelnytsky Nuclear Power Plant losing connection with two power transmission lines.
Direct quote from Grossi: "Ukraine's energy infrastructure is extremely fragile and vulnerable, putting nuclear safety at significant risk. I once again urge maximum military restraint in areas where key nuclear energy facilities and other dependent structures are located."
"The IAEA will continue to assess the extent of damage to facilities and transmission lines that are crucial for nuclear safety."
What preceded this: On the night of November 28, Russia launched a massive combined missile-drone attack on Ukrainian energy: air defense destroyed 76 cruise missiles, 3 guided aviation missiles, and 35 UAVs out of 188 enemy targets.
Emergency power outages were urgently implemented across all regions of Ukraine on Thursday morning due to the Russian massive missile-artillery attack.
