Following Trump's victory, Ukraine requires careful actions rather than reckless ventures, according to Yevgeny Magda.

The director of the Institute of World Politics shared insights exclusively with "Telegraph" on how the Ukrainian authorities should approach their relationship with Trump.
После победы Трампа Украине нужны продуманные шаги, а не рискованные действия, - считает Евгений Магда.

In reality, my advice to the Ukrainian authorities is quite straightforward. First and foremost, they need to clearly define their national interests and, based on those, determine the format of their relationship with the United States. It is essential to recognize that Trump favors easy victories, but such a victory can only be achieved if it is prepared in advance.

Given the current circumstances, it is very challenging to expect an easy victory in relations with Russia. We must demonstrate that we are valuable to the West, especially to the United States.

Secondly, we need to clearly identify which specific weapons, ammunition, and technologies we require. This means that the Republicans during their election campaign opposed an "open check" for Ukraine. We need to take this into account. Our requests must be precise. Therefore, it is evident that Zelensky's Peace Plan will need to be revised.

Thirdly, we should expand the circle of individuals who can engage in dialogue with the United States, as there will be a monopolization of a single political force there. We should not speak of a monolithic majority; instead, we should broaden the opportunities.

Engagement with veterans, religious and women's organizations, and seeking avenues for dialogue among businesspeople is also necessary. However, it is essential for us to show that we are beneficial to the United States, particularly for their military-industrial and energy sectors. This will not be unnecessary.

Regarding the disaster for Ukraine following a Trump victory… Unfortunately, we are faced with the reality that Ukrainian diplomacy is currently entirely centered around Zelensky. If anyone believes that this way we are expanding our capabilities, they are mistaken.

In fact, we are only narrowing our opportunities. This is the reality that exists today. If we do not address it, the situation will regrettably worsen, as the demand for quick, positive, and effective solutions is currently higher for Americans than anything else.

Trump has shown that he is capable, as he did last year with the MAGA group (Make America Great AgainEd.), of harnessing the resources of the Republican Party to win. We must keep in mind that he is an adventurer and is willing to take risks. What we need are not adventures but calculated actions.

We should recognize our value, including for the region and for the United States. For example, we can tell them that as long as Ukrainian forces are fighting, the United States does not need to increase its contingent in Europe, thus risking the lives and health of their citizens serving in the American military.
