Today, Russia has set a record for the number of long-range drones launched against Ukraine, totaling 267. This is nearly double the usual count from previous days and more than twenty times greater than in the first half of last year.
Once again – twenty times.
Since August 2024, the Russian Federation has been steadily ramping up its production of drones in this category, outpacing us significantly.
Notably, a significant portion of these drones are decoys – they either carry no explosives at all or only a minimal amount. Nevertheless, they effectively deplete the resources of the air defense systems.
From the very beginning, these drones have been specifically designed by the Russians to serve as efficient decoys.
At the same time, there has been no mass use of decoys from Ukraine.
There is no large-scale production of decoys – I also lack understanding of why we behave this way.
In Ukraine, a super-cheap decoy has been developed and tested, capable of carrying a minimal explosive charge and reaching interesting locations within Russia, including Moscow.
Consider this – launching several dozen drones every night at the enemy's capital for the price of one "Lyutyi," which burns Russian oil refineries. A good psychological impact for the cost, wouldn’t you agree?
However, we are not doing this at the moment. I still hope that a leader within the Defense Forces will emerge who supports this idea.
