The documentary film "Porcelain War" continues to conquer global film awards - the film has received the Directors Guild of America Award (DGA Awards) and is vying for an Oscar in 2025. This was announced on the air by Oksana Voloshenyuk, chairperson of the Ukrainian Film Critics Union, as reported by UNN.
Details
The world premiere of the film took place in January 2024 at the Sundance Film Festival, where it was awarded the Grand Prix in the documentary competition.
In Ukraine, the film was showcased for the first time in May 2024 during the American Film Festival "Independence."
Additionally, "Porcelain War" has been nominated for the Oscar this year in the category of "Best Documentary Feature."
The film tells the story of three Ukrainian ceramic artists: Slava Leontiev, his wife Anna Stasenko, and their friend Andrei Stefanov, who serves as the cameraman in the film. Due to the occupation, they were forced to leave Crimea and now reside in frontline Kharkiv, where they create fragile porcelain figurines that embody a peace that cannot be shattered.
