On February 14, 2025, in Cherkasy, employees of the State Environmental Inspection of the Central District, in collaboration with inspectors from the Water Objects Service of the Patrol Police, uncovered a serious violation of fishing regulations.
A fisherman was apprehended along the banks of the Dnieper River for exceeding the allowed daily catch limit. His haul included:
The total damage inflicted on the state amounts to 216 thousand hryvnias.
According to the fisherman himself, he was fishing with a lure. However, upon inspecting the catch, authorities found characteristic hook injuries, indicating illegal fishing methods. Additionally, fishing gear and a fishing rod were discovered at the scene.
A forensic investigative group from the Cherkasy Police Department was called to the scene to clarify all circumstances and hold the offender accountable.
