The State Agency for Cinema has been returned under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications (MCSC). It was separated by a government decision in 2021. This information was reported by UNN citing the ministry's press service.
Details
On Friday, February 7, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a resolution granting the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications the authority to develop and implement state policy in the field of cinema.
Accordingly, the Ministry will coordinate and direct the activities of the State Cinema Agency and will have the authority to propose changes to cinema legislation for consideration by the Cabinet of Ministers.
It is noted that the government's decision will ensure a comprehensive approach to the formation and implementation of cultural policy, of which the field of cinematography is an integral part. Therefore, the film industry gains additional opportunities to unleash its creative potential through integration into a unified state strategy for cultural development.
"The government decision enhances the role of cinema in cultural diplomacy, the protection of Ukraine's informational sovereignty, and will contribute to the international recognition of the Ukrainian film industry. With its wide audience reach and ability to shape worldviews, Ukrainian cinema is an important tool for disseminating the truth about the history, culture, and heroic struggle of Ukrainians," added the MCSC.
