Famous Hollywood actor Harrison Ford has canceled his appearance at the Oscar ceremony. The 82-year-old man has been diagnosed with an illness.
Reports UNN citing Entertainment Weekly and Independent.
On Wednesday, Harrison Ford was announced as one of the hosts for the Oscar ceremony alongside Gal Gadot, Zoe Saldana, Andrew Garfield, Margaret Qualley, Samuel L. Jackson, Rachel Zegler, Alba Rohrwacher, and Dave Bautista.
However, it has recently come to light that the 82-year-old "Indiana Jones" actor had to withdraw from the opportunity to host after being diagnosed with shingles yesterday.
Shingles is a viral infection that causes painful rashes. It often appears as blisters triggered by the varicella-zoster virus, the same virus that causes chickenpox.
Shortly after news of Ford's illness broke, the Oscar organizers announced on Saturday that "Star Wars" star Mark Hamill would take the stage as the "host."
Mark Richard Hamill is an American actor, best known for his role as Jedi Luke Skywalker in the "Star Wars" film saga. After those films, Hamill has successfully worked on Broadway, done voice acting for animated films, and video games.
Whoopi Goldberg is also set to take the Oscar stage for the first time in 10 years.
Other hosts for Sunday night include Halle Berry, Willem Dafoe, Lily-Rose Depp, Elle Fanning, Selena Gomez, Cillian Murphy, Bowen Yang, John Lithgow, Emma Stone, Ana de Armas, and Ben Stiller.
Reports say that Ariana Grande, nominated for her first Oscar for her role as Glinda in Jon Chu's "Wicked," will perform a composition with her co-star Cynthia Erivo, who is also nominated for her role as Elphaba.
