Legendary singing rector Mikhail Poplavsky turns 75!

Mikhail Poplavsky, the rector of KNUKIM, is celebrating his 75th birthday but has decided to postpone the festivities until victory is achieved. He plans to organize a grand concert titled "Ukraine, Forward!" as part of his ongoing mission to promote Ukrainian culture.

Today, November 28, marks the 75th birthday of Mikhail Poplavsky, reports UNN.

We have learned that the celebration has been postponed until after Victory and he plans to hold a grand concert titled "Ukraine, Forward!".

People like Mikhail Mikhailovich are often referred to as self-made men - individuals who have built their own success. From a "simple guy from a village" to a renowned and accomplished individual, rector, media figure, politician, public figure, philanthropist, producer, and promoter of Ukrainian music, as well as a crisis manager.

Mikhail Mikhailovich Poplavsky is the rector of the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, professor, Honored Artist of Ukraine, People's Artist of Ukraine, performer and promoter of Ukrainian songs, producer, and stage director. He is a full holder of the Order of Merit (2000 – III degree, 2001 – II degree, 2007 – I degree), and a three-time laureate of the National Prize "Person of the Year".

Mikhail Poplavsky is also known as the author of the idea and general producer of many artistic national projects aimed at promoting Ukrainian music. Notably, the All-Ukrainian Children's Television Contest "Step to the Stars" (since 1997), the TV program "Our Song" (since 2004), which later changed its name and achieved the status of the national music award "Ukrainian Song of the Year", the Shevchenko Evenings "We Are Your Children, Ukraine!" (since 2008), and concerts for International Mother's Day "Mom, Eternal and Beloved" (since 2008). The unprecedented telethon of Ukrainian songs "Song Unites Us!" (2012), which entered the Guinness World Records as "The Longest Musical Telethon of National Songs Live." For five consecutive days without breaks for commercials or news, Ukrainian songs were broadcast live on the First National TV Channel for 110 hours, 3 minutes, and 27 seconds from March 29 to April 2.
