The director clarified that thanks to his work on promotional videos, which he recently completed in Portugal, Corbet was able to "earn at least some money."

American director Brady Corbet, who recently won a BAFTA award, stated that he actually did not make any money from his film "Brutalist," which is gaining increasing popularity. According to Corbet, he earns a living doing more mundane tasks, such as shooting promotional videos.
This was the first time in many years that he got paid, noted Corbet.
Corbet assured in his interview that such financial realities are not an isolated case. He mentioned that he has spoken with many directors whose films were nominated this year. They are facing issues with some financial obligations and, for instance, are unable to pay their rent.
"This is the reality," added Corbet.
Let us remind you,
At the 2025 BAFTA ceremony, the films "Conclave" and "Brutalist" each received four awards. "Conclave" won prizes for Best British Film and Best Film, while "Brutalist" was recognized in the directing category.
