As the expert notes, Canadians are not subjects of the British Empire, which, as we know, has long ceased to exist; allegiance to the British crown is purely nominal. Therefore, he states, Canada is entirely independent, and the Canadian Prime Minister is a recognized leader of the state, the head of the executive branch, so the idea of Trump buying Canada is not a question of U.S. relations with the United Kingdom.

“Honestly, it’s a strange story; it seems rather unserious compared to the Greenland situation. First and foremost, you look at the interest, and politically, attaching Canada in terms of power struggle for Trump and the Republican Party is extremely disadvantageous,” asserts Abbas Gallyamov.

He also recalls a survey where Canadians chose a president as if they were Americans, and only 21% voted for Trump, which is incredibly low, while 60% supported Harris, who would win by a large margin. Thus, the expert concludes, Canadians are much more liberal, and if they were part of the U.S., they would repeatedly cast their votes for the Democrats.

“It would simply be a gift to the Democrats. You can suspect Trump of many things, but not of wanting to give a gift to the Democrats,” emphasizes Abbas Gallyamov.
