SubscribeAccording to the expert, there are already reports that the first units of troops from North Korea, who have completed training at eastern Russian training grounds, have arrived in the combat zone. In particular, he adds, as reported by GUR, they were spotted on October 23 in the Kursk region.
“The first units that have undergone training are already present. The current discussion involves not only the Kursk region but also those training grounds where North Korean troops are stationed within Russia. Thus, according to GUR estimates, the contingent currently consists of approximately 12,000 individuals, including 500 officers, among them 3 generals from Pyongyang, presumably to lead these units,” - explains Alexander Musienko.
The expert reports that Moscow has appointed Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Yunus-Bek Yevkurov to oversee the training and adaptation of the DPRK troops, which is significant. As he notes, Yevkurov is responsible for the defense of border territories, and since August, when the Kursk operation began, he has been tasked with forming military groups at the border.
“If they are assigned to Yevkurov, what does that imply? It suggests that, most likely, the North Korean troops will operate and act directly in the border territories. Well, at least based on this information. Plus military training, plus adaptation… It is evident that there will be Russian command, and probably a coordination staff with the Koreans, which is why there are at least 3 generals who should also oversee this process. Well, here the objective, I believe, is clear and understandable,” - concludes Alexander Musienko.
