According to the expert, we are currently experiencing three escalations from Russia. The first, he explains, is the involvement of North Korean troops, partly due to the fact that Russia lacks the manpower to simultaneously attack in the Pokrovsk-Kurakhove, Toretsk, Kupiansk, and Kursk directions. The second escalation, the expert continues, involves renewed strikes on energy infrastructure to leave Ukraine without electricity, and the third is a medium-range missile attack.

“So what kind of de-escalation can we expect? Accordingly, Ukraine is delivering retaliatory strikes, and again, strikes on oil refineries are resumed, attacks on all facilities are renewed, and generally, strikes are carried out on those targets that we can reach. It is clear that the sides will exchange these strikes; Russia has accumulated a certain stockpile of missiles and will attempt to launch more missile attacks on Ukrainian territory, especially before January 20,” explains Alexander Musienko.

After January 20, the expert notes, as Mike Waltz, a candidate for Trump's national security advisory role, has mentioned, the U.S. will seek strategic solutions, considering the format of negotiations, who will be at the table, and how to organize them.

“I think that’s why Biden, understanding this as well, is trying to expedite these decisions that Ukraine needed earlier, but we are now getting to them, to give Trump the necessary leverage and say: ‘You don’t have to justify anything, cancel nothing, nothing additional is needed, a lot is already being done, take it, support it, and move forward,’” ponders Alexander Musienko.
