“Polish Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski (and this position of the government is evidently consolidated) along with Donald Tusk mentioned that they need to protect Poland and will not deploy troops in Ukraine. Well, you see, this is quite an unclear stance from our closest partners who have been helping us a lot throughout this war. They have done a great deal, but now, why not guarantee?” notes Alexander Musienko.
He adds that Polish politicians continuously assert that without a strong and independent Ukraine, there cannot be a Poland; even the late President Kaczynski said that today it is Georgia, tomorrow Ukraine, then the Baltic states, and eventually it will be Poland's turn. However, the expert contemplates that Poland might change its position since, as reported by Reuters, the U.S. has several questions for Europe, with the first being how many of their troops they can send to Ukraine.
“There is already a statement from Keir Starmer indicating that Britain is ready to consider the option of sending troops. However, it should be understood that as of today, the number of British troops stands at around 80,000, which is the regular army, not counting reservists. If we talk about a contingent, countries like Britain could send 15-20 thousand servicemen,” explains Alexander Musienko.
Overall, he asserts, this is the beginning; it is already a step from discussing the idea to detailing it, providing specifics and progress regarding which countries will send peacekeeping troops to Ukraine and in what numbers.
As reported by Zna.ua, Bortnik explained that the negotiation process is just beginning, so it is too early to despair.
Zna.ua also reported that Musienko on U.S. cooperation with China: “This would lead to the collapse of Putin's regime”.
