An expert warned that holding elections in Ukraine now is perilous: "The nation is on the brink of survival."

According to sources from Fox News, the expert explains that in Saudi Arabia, the USA and Russia have agreed on the following: first, a ceasefire must be established (the deadlines remain April 20 and May 9), elections in Ukraine should occur, and only then should a peace agreement be signed. Clearly, he notes, they have come to the conclusion that Zelensky is not suitable, for Putin – it’s obvious why, and for Trump – because he doesn’t sign agreements without reading them, which is why elections are necessary, especially since this is a democracy.

“I agree, but the signs of a normal democratic process cannot occur when a nation is on the brink of survival, preservation of its statehood, and existence. Certain procedures can be postponed to ensure survival and to have people who can participate in these elections. Russia aims to abolish the martial law regime, carry out demobilization, and in one way or another, there will be a decline in certain sentiments, everyone will return to domestic politics, utilities, tariffs… Well, you know all these narratives, now pensions will be discussed, etc. Meanwhile, Russia will take advantage of the situation, for instance, by capturing Kherson or advancing towards Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia, or Kharkiv,” warns Alexander Musienko.

Moreover, he adds, after the abolition of martial law and mobilization, it will be very difficult to reassemble the army during a new threat while conducting demobilization and elections, so the idea of elections, which has been actively promoted and clearly pushed by the Russians, carries risks.

“He (editor's note – Zelensky) is criticized for not wanting to surrender. But how can one surrender with such a wonderful people, with a nation that demonstrates a will to resist and has been beating the Russian troops, the second army in the world, for three years? Overall, since 2014, not allowing the enemy to achieve anything,” emphasizes Alexander Musienko.
