Subscribe“A very significant indicator was what surfaced from the other side – when our Western partners first decided that they were ready to provide us with 50 billion Russian rubles. Of course, they don't want to spend it on elections in the United States and, perhaps, this is just a statement, and then they will allocate from their budget funds… But in fact, what are money from an economic perspective? It is trust,” – explains Vyacheslav Potapenko.
According to the program guest, for the first time since 1944, that is, in 80 years, Western countries have decided and understood who they will no longer be friends with, who will no longer be a consumer of the dollar, a user of the dollar, so, let those Russian assets be, this money can be given to Ukraine.
All of this, he notes, has only happened now, so it’s possible that the G7 countries might change their decision, claiming they were misunderstood, that the press secretary was drunk, that he misspoke, or they might find some accounting error and allocate money from their own budgets. But for now, the expert emphasizes, they are willing to transfer this money to Ukraine.
“In fact, there is a gradual process, as if the ice has cracked – a fissure, and it will diverge into two poles. Well, this trend is being observed now. This is the main thing happening. And as for Putin promoting himself at the BRICS summit, well, it’s clear that he did just that. It’s also clear that this isn’t very good for us. These arriving leaders are against nuclear weapons, but for them, this war is local; it would be better if it ended somehow, but they are in no hurry to engage directly,” - concludes Vyacheslav Potapenko.
