He discussed this in his blog.

“Trump proposed lowering oil prices and mentioned that he would be speaking with OPEC countries about this. In fact, this is not just a request but a demand from Trump that prices must decrease,” notes Alexander Musienko.

At the same time, OPEC, he points out, remains skeptical about the idea of increasing oil production for the greater good. As the expert explains, media reports indicate that the Saudi Arabian energy minister has already spoken with his counterparts from Iraq, Libya, and the UAE regarding this matter, and a meeting of OPEC+ ministers is scheduled for February 3, where they may recommend changes to the overall oil production policy. However, sources from Reuters suggest that it is unlikely that the current production plan will be adjusted at this meeting.

Thus, the expert states, OPEC+ does not intend to comply with Trump’s demand, and now it will be interesting to see how the U.S. president will react, whether he will show determination and persistence on this issue, and his intentions to pressure Russia by lowering oil prices.

“Although, again, there are a few years for these oil games with OPEC+, as the renewable energy industry, solar panels, electric vehicles, and similar technologies will continue to grow. We clearly understand that it’s only a matter of time before oil prices begin to drop in the strategic perspective, as the demand for it will decrease significantly,” explains Alexander Musienko.

As reported by ZN.ua, Musienko discussed whether Trump will make Putin a political corpse: “Tariffs, oil prices, so much talk…”.
