On January 23, a charitable performance titled SOUL took place at the largest contemporary art gallery in Ukraine, Art Ukraine Gallery, featuring the legendary artist Anatoly Kryvolap and the world-renowned artist and Hollywood actress of Ukrainian descent, Marina Mazepa.
The event brought together art, spirituality, and charity. At its core was the symbolic painting by Anatoly Kryvolap titled “Night” or “Horse on Black,” which embodies the indomitable spirit of Ukraine. The uniqueness of the performance lay in Marina Mazepa’s embodiment of the “soul of the horse” through her movements, plasticity, and emotions, conveying the invisible energy of freedom inherent to our country.
During the event, a silent auction was announced, with the centerpiece being a two-meter canvas by Anatoly Kryvolap called "Evening Reflections," valued at $130,000. The starting bid is $100,000. All proceeds will go towards the purchase of an M113 armored personnel carrier for the 3rd Assault Brigade. The auction will run until March 1, 2025.
Natalia Zabolotna, the curator of the performance and co-founder of Art Ukraine Gallery, remarked:
“Art unites and inspires. It is through events like this that we not only showcase the greatness of Ukrainian culture but also support those who are currently defending our country on the front lines.”
The event was held in support of the 3rd Assault Brigade, which is carrying out critically important combat missions. The brigade commander, Andriy Beletskyi, noted:
“Wars are won not by armies, but by nations. The army is an integral part. The outcome of the current war depends on the courage, will, and creativity of the entire nation. The key to victory lies in our unity for a common goal.”
Among the guests were prominent artists, musicians, writers, patrons, and public figures.
Despite the challenges of war, Art Ukraine Gallery has become an important cultural center. Over the past 1.5 years, it has raised more than 4,300,000 hryvnias for the treatment and rehabilitation of Ukrainians, particularly for the children's hospital “Okhmatdyt” and support for the military.
“Art saves lives. We have proven this through our work. Together with our friends, partners, and guests, we are making a significant contribution to bringing victory closer,” concluded Natalia Zabolotna.
