Subscribe“They twisted and turned things around, creating conditions where indexing will now result in reduced pensions. We will recalculate everything with you now, and you will see that it will indeed be this way. However, there is really nothing to be surprised about, as they have repeatedly stated that they have no funds for social support and pensions, and there’s nowhere to take it from. They have even mentioned that pensions will be frozen for three years. What will happen next? God only knows what will happen next,” notes Ekaterina Kotenko.
According to her, the Pension Fund claims that in March, everything should increase by 10%, implying that the average salary in Ukraine over the last three years will be indexed, as it has been in the past. For the first time, pensions for those who retired in 2021 will be indexed, of course, three years have passed, and the average salary then was 9118 UAH. Last year, the journalist continues, the indexing was 7994 UAH; adding 10% gives us 8793 UAH, which is less than 9118 UAH.
This means, she concludes, that people who retired in 2022, 2023, and 2024 need a pension increase of 40-50%, not just 10%, to catch up with the indexing, but this has never happened and will not happen.
“And the main point is that, according to all these calculations, pensions will only continue to decrease. That’s why, as I understand it, they came up with all these E-balls and recalculations, wanting to add something and take something away to somehow balance things out for people. But the question remains, will these E-balls somehow help compensate and balance everything so that people receive at least a slightly increased pension?” concludes Ekaterina Kotenko.
