As the expert points out, after Trump's recent threats to impose new tariffs and sanctions, Colombia has reconsidered its decision and agreed to accept illegal migrants who are currently being expelled from the U.S. in large numbers, meaning there will be no new restrictions from the Americans on the country.
“Well, just take a look at the pressure tactics the U.S. has on countries. Trump pressured Colombia, made threats, and that was it. But where is the solution for Russia? He should have applied pressure there. It seems like tariffs, oil prices—there's been so much talk, yet the war continues, and Russian aggression persists,” emphasizes Alexander Musienko.
This entire situation, he explains, indicates that for Colombia, the introduction of tariffs and sanctions represents significant and tangible losses; for Russia, tariffs and sanctions also result in losses, certainly, but they are not as catastrophic and fatal. Therefore, the expert asserts that sanctions against Russia are necessary, but it is also crucial to supply Ukraine with weapons, and together, all these measures will be effective.
“Well, the United States can exert pressure; Trump can do it. So why doesn’t he press Putin? And why these attempts to somehow meet, to talk, even some notes of respect in the tone, etc., that we will meet? That’s unnecessary. Decisive actions are needed, period. Putin needs to be dealt with; he must become a political corpse forever, and that is the only thing that needs to be done. Moreover, Russia must be put in its place. That is the only thing that can help the U.S. with its reputation and leadership, and also help Europe,” concludes Alexander Musienko.
As reported by ZN.UA, Musienko warned that Putin wants to implement a Georgian scenario in Ukraine.
