As the expert reminds us, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are essentially fighting with American weapons and funding, and continuing the fight without the U.S. is not feasible. Yes, he acknowledges, if we had our own missiles, tanks, and so on from the start, the overall situation would be much better; however, we are left to gradually strike at the Russian economy with drones.
“Then we could continue the war until a victorious end, a glorious stalemate, and so forth. But the point is, all of this is American, almost entirely American, including intelligence and Starlink. So how can we conduct a war? We can resist, and we can engage in guerrilla warfare too, but I’m not sure how acceptable that is in Europe and in the 21st century,” explains Vadim Karasev.
He also notes that the concept of strategic depth is crucial; for Russia, it stretches from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok. Yes, the expert states, 1-2 of our drones might reach Kazan, for example, but not the Urals and beyond, where there are also Russian military factories and training grounds, and as during World War II, they could relocate all production there. Unfortunately, he adds, whether we have a structure or not, we lack strategic depth; our entire territory is vulnerable, and Russian missiles can reach the Yavoriv training ground.
“You can only fight on morale for a year. That was the case, by the way, with the Ukrainian morale boost, but now that’s not sufficient; we need technical means, weapons, and so forth,” emphasizes Vadim Karasev.
