“We must understand that corruption is primarily the responsibility of law enforcement agencies. When we start to raise concerns about the authorities, for example, asking why they are not fighting corruption, I have a question: when you see a bandit on the street, do you confront him, ask him, or request him to fight against himself? No. You ask where the police are that allow this. Therefore, the first thing is law enforcement agencies,” emphasizes Taras Zahorodny.

Furthermore, he adds, we shouldn't think that corruption only exists in Ukraine. It exists in China, he claims, but it is structured differently there, and it also exists in the USA. This is despite the fact that it is a Protestant country, and Protestant countries tend to be wealthy and less corrupt because Protestants have a certain attitude towards corruption ingrained in their upbringing.

According to the guest of the program, corruption can be transformed; specifically, one can steal not from losses, as is currently the case with us, but from profits. Additionally, he notes that agriculture generates primitive corruption, where you pay money, import something, and that’s where it ends. However, industry represents a completely different type of capital; it must be long-term because money is earned from other activities.

“Do you know how it works in China? A party comes in and tells you: ‘We don’t know how, but your area must have a 5% GDP growth. Do whatever you want.’ And then he is interested in establishing more productions, bringing in more people to make it all work. And he takes not from losses, but from profits,” shares Taras Zahorodny.
