The discussion focused on enhancing cooperation between territorial and interregional bodies of the Ecoinspectorate of Ukraine and representatives of the Ombudsman Office of Ukraine in the regions regarding environmental monitoring, protection of the surrounding natural environment, and ensuring citizens' rights to a clean environment, which has become increasingly relevant in the context of Russian military aggression.

This is an experience that should be shared with other regions.
Participating in the meetings discussing this issue was the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, who expressed gratitude to Estonia for its assistance in opening the first Center of this type in Zhytomyr, which was renovated and equipped through a specific program of the Government of that country, the Estonian Center for International Development (ESTDEV), and once again emphasized the importance of close interaction among state institutions concerning the protection of people's rights, particularly for those affected by the aftermath of the Chernobyl disaster.
The discussion was joined by Ukrainian people's deputy Arseniy Pushkarenko, the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights in the Zhytomyr region, Yuriy Pohoditsky, and the head of the Environmental Inspection of the Polissya District, Yevhen Medvedovsky, who particularly highlighted the need for deeper cooperation between Ukraine and international environmental institutions, the effectiveness of which is already demonstrated by the district's Environmental Inspection through collaboration with the Republic of Estonia, joining relevant intergovernmental and public initiatives.
