According to the journalist, individuals have started receiving messages from banks regarding the necessity of identity verification, and many have begun to fear that these could be scams, leading them to ignore the messages. In reality, she reports, this is indeed the case; banks have signed a memorandum, and now everyone must undergo identification.
“This physical identification must be done at the bank because without it, the bank will not recognize you as a client and will freeze your funds. Now the question is, how do you go about this? First and foremost – you need to visit the bank. Secondly, you must provide information. You may be asked to consent to retrieve data, for example, from ‘Dіya’; documents are sent from ‘Dіya’ to the bank, and that’s it, the person is identified. But consent is required for them to access the data in ‘Dіya’. You can also take photos of your documents and send them to the bank,” explains Ekaterina Kotenko.
So, she states, starting from March 1, everything changes; by that time, verification must be completed. Banks have the right to conduct this check once a year, but it may not be so straightforward. However, the journalist emphasizes the importance of verifying that the identification message was indeed sent by the bank to avoid falling victim to scammers.
“All of this is due to changes in legislation, the signing of the memorandum, all this control, and all these transfers… And we are told this is what? As a fight against corruption, as financial monitoring, etc.,” concludes Ekaterina Kotenko.
