In Kharkiv region, a drunk driver attempted to bribe the police officers.

In the Kharkiv region, a drunken driver attempted to evade responsibility by offering police a bribe of 15,000 UAH.

This was reported by the communication department of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Ukraine in Kharkiv region, as conveyed by "Dumka".

According to the police, in the town of Barvenkovo, an automobile was observed violating traffic regulations. The driver, a 59-year-old man, was found to be intoxicated. A medical examination confirmed that the alcohol concentration in the offender's blood was 1.89 per mille.

In an effort to avoid accountability, the man offered the police a bribe of 15,000 UAH. However, administrative protocols were drawn up against him under part 1 of article 130 (Driving vehicles by persons in a state of alcohol intoxication) and part 5 of article 121 (Violation of the rules for using seat belts or motorcycle helmets) of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses.

As of today, the 28th, he has been formally charged under part 1 of article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Offering, promising, or providing improper benefits to an official). He now faces up to four years in prison.
