The Security Service has neutralized an FSB agent network operating in Kyiv and the Kharkiv region. The perpetrators were spying on the locations of the Defense Forces and adjusting Russian airstrikes.

As reported by "Dumka," this was announced by the press service of the SBU.

The investigation revealed that the leader of the enemy cell was an active engineer at the municipal enterprise "Kyiv Metro."

According to the case materials, the official was recruited in 2015 in Moscow during a personal meeting with an FSB officer. His identity has already been established by the cybersecurity specialists of the Security Service.

The recruited agent was placed in "waiting mode" and "reactivated" after the start of the full-scale war through messages in a messenger app.

He immediately received instructions to create an agent network. The group's task was to gather information about the locations and movements of Ukrainian troops and their cargo, as well as to direct missile and drone attacks by the Russian forces.

The resident involved his acquaintances in working for the enemy: a Kharkiv resident who left his military unit after mobilization, and who had previously worked for 10 years at Ukrzaliznytsia, as well as a driver for international freight transport. The deserter's task was to monitor the movement of military convoys of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, while the driver was to leak coordinates of checkpoints and Defense Forces units under the guise of business trips.

Additionally, it was established that the agent group included the suspect's mother and brother.

The leader of the agent group received "necessary" geolocations from his accomplices, summarized them, and sent "reports" to his Russian handler.

According to the investigation, the resident personally directed missile strikes on Kyiv, which is confirmed by intercepted conversations.

SBU officers documented the crimes of the Russian agents and arrested the resident in Kyiv. Simultaneously, a deserting agent was detained in Kharkiv.

During searches, mobile phones were seized from the suspects. Firearms were also found and sent for examination.

The investigators of the Security Service notified the two detainees and two relatives of the enemy cell leader of their suspicion in accordance with the crimes committed under the following articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

  • Part 2 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 111 (treason committed by a group of individuals in conspiracy under martial law);
  • Parts 1 and 3 of Article 436-2 (justification, recognition of the legitimacy, denial of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, and glorification of its participants).

Decisions are being made regarding the choice of preventive measures for the detainees and notifying a third group member—an international freight driver—who is hiding abroad. The perpetrators face imprisonment from 8 years to life, along with asset confiscation.
