Karazin University announced that Professor Sergey Alexandrovich Naumov, Doctor of Historical Sciences, has passed away prematurely after a sudden severe illness.
According to "Dumka," this information was shared on the Facebook page of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University.
As reported by the university, Sergey Alexandrovich Naumov was born on September 19, 1958, in the village of Grabovskoye, Krasnopolskiy district, Sumy region. He studied at a local school, then at the Lebedyn Pedagogical College, and subsequently attended the History Faculty of Kharkiv State University, graduating with honors in 1982.
All of Sergey Alexandrovich's scientific and pedagogical activities were closely linked to the Department of History of Ukraine at Karazin University: from 1982 he served as an intern, from 1983 to 1986 he was in graduate school, from 1987 he was a lecturer, from 1990 an associate professor, and from 2007 a professor. In 2008, he defended his doctoral dissertation titled "Regional Structures of the Ukrainian Political Movement: Formation and Activity, 90s of the 19th Century – February 1917 (Based on the Material of the Left Bank)." In 2011, he was awarded the title of professor.
For a long time, he was one of the authors of the tasks for the III (regional) stage of the All-Ukrainian Olympiad in History and served as the head of the jury for the historical section of the student competition-defense of the Small Academy of Sciences in the Kharkiv region.
At various times, Professor Naumov held positions and performed the duties of Deputy Dean of the History Faculty, Scientific Secretary of the Academic Council, and Chairman of the Educational and Methodological Commission. He was a member of the expert commission of the Higher Attestation Commission under the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, as well as a member of the dissertation council for the defense of candidate and doctoral dissertations, and editorial boards of many professional scientific periodicals in history.
In his research, the professor focused on the study of the Ukrainian national movement in the second half of the 19th century and the early 20th century. He taught pre-diploma seminars for undergraduate and master's students, courses, and special courses on modern history of Ukraine, the Ukrainian National Revolution, the political movement in the Dnipro region, and current issues.
